The Story
Years ago when Karen (co-founder of Blazeryourway) was working at a residential program for young adults, one of the young adults was preparing for an interview for an after school job at a local store. Karen and her dear friend and colleague Xiomara were helping this young adult with finding professional attire for the interview when two things occurred that would ultimately lead to the start of Blazeryourway, Inc.
First, this young adult put on a blazer. Although not traditionally a piece of clothing familiar to young adults, Karen, a lover of blazers herself, instantly saw how putting on this blazer seemed to help build confidence for this young adult.
Second, as Karen and Xiomara were helping this young adult to prepare for her interview, including helping her in sharing her strengths that qualified her for the job, nerves and anticipation were taking over, and the young adult was concerned she would forget what she wanted to say in the interview. It was at that moment when Karen took a small piece of paper and helped her write out on the paper the three main things that she wanted to remember during the interview. Karen then took the piece of paper and with a paper clip attached it to the inside of the blazer, so that the young adult could easily open her blazer and glance at the paper during the interview; all of this led to her getting the job!
For years, Karen has been talking to our family about this experience and its impact. Josh (Karen's son and Blazeryourway's other co-founder) had the idea to develop and create a way that we could use this idea and build on its impact – to provide blazers, with a special label (see below for more on this label) to young adults entering the workforce. Josh got right to work on developing the logo and work plan with Justin (Karen's other son) serving as our main tech support and building and managing our social platforms. I worked with Karen’s father (Larry) to offer initial legal guidance, then Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP provided incredible and generous work to officially get Blazeryourway, Inc. up and running.
The Mission
The mission of Blazeryourway, Inc. is to provide business professional blazers to young adults entering the workforce to help build confidence and ultimately lead to success.
Inspired by the story above, each blazer has a special label affixed on the inside, along with a fabric marker, to ensure that each young adult choosing a blazer can list their “Top 3 about Me” strengths and attributes, to serve as a reminder whenever needed, to Blazeryourway…to success!

The Need
Although there are thankfully supportive programs for young adults entering the world of work to help them with developing effective vocational and workforce skills, many young adults experience clothing insecurity and are in need of basic everyday clothing, as well as specifically professional clothing to wear to an interview.
